I got this email from a friend of mine. The World Clock check it out.
Speaking of boundaries, (Jennifer, seem like we have smiliar here) Last Sunday (yes it was Sunday, too) I decided to say "no" for my parents usually borrow my money and few times they didn't pay me back. Some did... some not... This time I decided to say "no" for a few reasons, one: this week is the last week of my working. two: I have plans for Labor Day Weekend and I need to keep the money. Three: My friend borrowed my money and she can't pay back fully. She only paid half. As long as she's paying me back, I'm okay. Just wish it is fully. So, that's when I decided to set-up my boundary here.
Of course, mom got all UPSET like I'm treating her as a "stranger" by saying "no" because we are family suppose to help each other. I rolled my eyes. I was thinking what's freaking next. She said that there are things that I "owe" them that I can't pay to them. I was like... Geez, now my mom is setting up the boundary. They said that I order the meal that is most expensive (I thought it was reasonable price especially they didn't say anything) and they choice NOT to say it.
I was like.. what happen to the communication, here?!?!? I didn't know that. They could have told me. They didn't. That's just one example. There's more on the lists.
Geez, just when I decided to say "no" ONCE.... Now mom make a big deal out of it. Now, she setting up the MORE boundaries... Eyes Rolls.. She cried. She certain take it personally, alright. I told my mom, "Don't I have the right to set up the boundaries, not only to strangers and friends but with family, too??"
Yesterday, I needed to buy a couple pair of shoes since my old ones are starting to wear-out and out-dated. So, mom and I go out together (we usually shop together and we enjoy doing that). Mom did asked me for 30 dollars. This time I didn't respond. I actually ingore her. I bought my one pair of shoes is all I needed instead of two. But I refuse to give money to my mom. I usually do that in the past but this time I have to say "no" again. Mainly because I wouldn't have the money after this week.
Geez....
(Jennifer, what's your brillant idea comes in your mind? ya mention in the twitter, ya got me curious) ;-)
