I remember when I was invitied by my friend when I was a kid to go to Disneyland for her birthday. Once, we went to nearby the castle where's the waterwell. That's popular place where Snow White is at "I'm wishing" song. There flowers overflowing on the walls and the bridge. There's a shallow fake river but real water with fake blue color. It's still beatiful when you see flowers and most of all lots and lots of different kind of butterflies flying around.
As we approach closer to the "wishing well", my friend and I throw couple of pennies to "make a wish". What's strange is that? I haven't decided what wish do I want instead I decided to wait before I make my decision. So, I went ahead and throw and make a wish later.
We went off and chasing buttflies a bit. Then I said to my friend, "I am going to stand here and stick my hand out then let the butterfly landed on my hand." My friend had her doubts that it would happen. Just a few seconds, I made my wish then the WHITE butterfly landed on my hand. She and her parents were surprised to see that as much I was surprised, too. It was wonderful experience for me. It was my most happy moments.
Here's another butterfly story....
Few years later, I asked my mom if it was okay for me to cut some roses that already blooming in our yard. There were pink and yellow rosebushes. My mom handled me the gloves for protecting and warning me to be careful because of thorns. I wanted to gather them to put in vase in the house. As I walked back and forth and I spotted something unusual on the door. I tried to figure it out and I couldn't. I yelled for my dad to come. He did. He came up to the door and I asked him, "What's this?" My dad looked at it and said I don't know. The color looks similar as the door but something else seem like some kind of 3-D. Something that seems popping out of the door. My dad went ahead and touch it. Turn out it was a butterfly had already came out of the cacocoon(sp). So, I brought the butterfly in and put where the roses are at. Few hours later, there's a heavy rain outside and the butterfly flew and "whacked" on the window. I'm surpised that butterfly didn't hurt him/herself. The butterfly just stay on the window while rainning outside. I decided not to let him/her out.
Next day, it was bright and sunny, I went to school and forgotten all about the butterfly. During the school, I suddenly remembered. I was so concern about my cat might try to eat him. I wondered where's the butterfly now? I arrived home and quickly checked. I found butterfly staying in same spot on the window and the cat is sitting on the windowstill and looking out. The cat NEVER notice the butterfly that is right above the cat. I took the cat in my bedroom. I try to get some kind of straw or toothpick to get the butterfly. Struggling, I tried to take the butterfly outside but the butterfly being so stuborn and flew against the window twice. I can hear the "whacked" sound. I was a little bit frustrated and manged to do the same thing 3rd time. This time I put the butterfly near my chest so it wouldn't be able to see his surrounding that much as I had my hand over the butterfly. I didn't touch him.
Finally! I took him outside where the sun directly to his wings. The wings open and took off. Here's the amazing part, the butterfly circle around the house and come to me right in my face. The butterfly was fluttering as he looked at me then left. It was like "Thank you for let me go free and bye bye." That was incredible experience for me!
Few years later, I joined 4-H club. I made a speech about butterflies and moths to completive against other kids in GA state and won! I was so exciting that I won the first place.
The moment when the butterfly open his wings. I memorize him. The butterfly I met at the door is called "Mourning Cloak". Here's the pix of what the butterfly look-alike. Oh if ya don't believe me... ask my parents they were the witness. They saw it all. ;-)
I still remember to this day for those special moments. We may not remember days but we do remember moments. How about you? Ever have your own speical moments? Feel free to share.
